The organizing committee of La Coupe de la Paix, the Quebecoise Federation of Cyclist Sports and the Canadian Cycling Association are proud to present ‘La Coupe de la Paix Edition 2008’.

Road cycling has known a renewal of popularity in the past few years. In Quebec, we can count on a long tradition of cycling races with several prestigious events.

This event will be held from Wednesday June 18, 2008 to Monday June 23, 2008 in 4 municipalities of the Rive-Nord : Laval, Mascouche, Montreal-North and Blainville.

Again this year we enjoy a place of choice in the national calendar between the G.P. of Beauce and the National Road Championships. We thus make it possible for Quebec athletes to measure themselves with the best athletes coming from 3 continents: Europe, Oceania and America while preparing in an optimal way for the championships. The series is registered with the National Road Ranking; our athletes will be able to gain precious points which will enable them to get a place on the national team.

Because of our national sanction we can invite a maximum of 3 national teams beside Canada and USA, so be sure to register as soon as possible. To attract the best cyclists, it is important to be able to offer races of quality with interesting purses. A total purse of 40,000$ will be awarded, 8,000$ per race (5,000$/men and 3,000$/women) and 8,000$ with cumulative of total points.

The formula of criterium ensures an important visibility to our partners. We will have thousands of spectators for each stage and as it is cumulative, people will want to follow them on an individual basis and as a free spectacle, we would expect large crowds.

The series will be the subject of a media cover without precedent. In addition to the daily newspapers which will ensure a daily cover of this series, 2 one hour emissions will be produced and diffused remotely on the waves of RDS and retransmitted on 2 occasions
